A Graphical User Interface for Easy Access to Econometrics Methods in R
The R statistical environment is freely available and is very popular among statisticians and others for data analysis and development of statisitcal software. It can however be a steep learning curve for many to learn to efficiently use its powerful script commands.
For those interested in quick data analysis in R using common methods in econometrics there is the DeducerHansel package. DeducerHansel builds on the Deducer R-package by providing an additional Hansel Analysis menu that gives access to econometrics methods typically not available in Deducer or other GUI's for R, including time series, panel, and spatial data methods. DeducerHansel also includes a commands log so you can learn what script commands are needed for producing your own script code in R.
The Hansel Analysis menu provides access to R methods in a user-friendly way, in a way similar to gretl, another econometrics-based free open-source software project (thus the name "Hansel" if you recognize the German fable; it also stand for Hacker's New Selection of Econometric Libraries, where "Hacker" refers to the author's surname). But unlike gretl, Hansel Analysis is built within the far more massive universe of R.
